I KNEW it was too good to last!  Taking myself off mtx was probably NOT the cleverest thing I have ever done! Just picked up my last bloods and oh my goodness - have they shot up! CRP now 54 and ESR 140 - no wonder my hands feel wrecked again - my own fault though. Two months ago the the bloods were almost normal! I e-mailed my consultant earlier, and he has spoken to the pharmacist, who is arranging for me to change to injectable mtx. I can't say I'm happy about it, but I suppose the inflammation needs to be sorted. Love Jeanxxx

Oh Jean!
What a result! You are right to get that inflammation down of course. I wonder if it is up there as a result of the rotten chest infections too. Hmm
My gran is on the injectable MTX and she finds it easy peasy and it seems to suit her.

Hi Jean  all best with injectable form seems its much better than tablets,bypasses stomach etc. and yes chest infection wont help esr,crp. take care lv melly cuddly cats make my world seem so much more fun

Oh well Jean, at least you were able to give it a try without the mtx and now you know it does help.

I don't think mtx is available with an epi-pen Jean.
I've had both for humira and actually prefer the syringes, you have more control with them.

You will be fine with the injection for mtx. I
was worried before i started it. Once you get used to doing it , its very easy. you wont really feel it. The injection works much better than the the pills. Good luck with it and i hope you soon feel better! Kathleen Mc.

Hello Jean, you must be glad that you have tried managing without the Mtx, it was worth a try. I'm sure you'll be fine with the injections and I hope that you pick up soon. Love Glenys x

Sorry to hear the ESR and CRP have gone mad Jean - painful. At least coming off the MTX answered the big question of whether it was actually doing anything Did yoou get a telling off from your rheummy?

Sorry to hear you need to go back on the Methotrexate again. I have just started to use an epi pen with Enbrel and it is not as easy as I anticipated. I find it very hard to keep it straight, apply enough pressure and press the button at the same time. I have to alternate legs so doing the left side is even harder. If you can manage with the syringe I think you may find it easier, especially if your hands are not so good.

O Jean, I do understand, absolutely completely. I have done a similar thing and once you see the bloods rise you really have no choice but to give in to the old MTX.
The injection form may be easier to take (mentally) then popping so many pills at once?

Thanks everyone for your support and encouragement. I'm waiting to hear from the pharmacist who will, presumably, prescribe for me.
Thanks Kathleen for your helpful comments - glad the injectable mtx works for you. I'll let you know what happens!

Sorry things haven't worked out without the MTX.
I was worried about the injections, but they are fine, really.
